Description

Home shirt worn by Aberdeen during their 1987/90 seasons.

The shirt uses Aberdeen's traditional red base, given a distinctive tonal patchwork effect with irregular squares of slightly darker red across the front and back. A white and navy striped collar frames the neckline, matching the white cuffs trimmed with a thin diagonal stripe on each sleeve.

Aberdeen wore this shirt through a spell that brought the club's first major honours since Alex Ferguson's departure. After finishing runners-up in the League Cup in both 1988 and 1989, the side, by then managed by Alex Smith and Jocky Scott, beat Rangers 2-1 after extra time to finally win the League Cup in October 1989. They completed a cup double the following May, beating Celtic in a penalty shootout after a goalless draw to lift the Scottish Cup for the seventh time in the club's history.

The shirt's distinctive patchwork design ran through a period of renewed success at Pittodrie, culminating in a domestic cup double under Alex Smith and Jocky Scott.

💨 Drying
Air dry only — lay flat or hang away from direct sunlight. Do not tumble dry as heat will shrink fabric and damage prints.
🔥 Ironing
Do not iron directly over printed areas or badges. If needed, iron on the reverse side only using a low heat setting.
Do not dry clean. Do not wring or twist. Wash separately from items with zips or rough textures that could snag the fabric.
⚠️ Back Print & Badge Care Printed names, numbers, and woven badges are particularly sensitive to heat and abrasion. Always wash inside out, never iron over them directly, and avoid contact with rough surfaces during washing.
