Description

Home shirt worn by Wimbledon F.C. during the 1988–89 season, as the club looked to prove their famous FA Cup triumph was no one-off. Worn by club legends including John Fashanu, Dennis Wise, Vinnie Jones, Lawrie Sanchez, John Scales and Eric Young, this iconic shirt perfectly represents the legendary "Crazy Gang" era.

The design features a deep royal blue base with a subtle shadow-pattern weave, creating a glossy tonal geometric texture throughout the fabric. Bold yellow shoulder panels provide a striking contrast, while the overlapping V-neck collar combines yellow with a central royal blue stripe, a design mirrored on the sleeve cuffs for a distinctive finish. To commemorate Wimbledon's unforgettable FA Cup success, the traditional yellow eagle club crest is surrounded by special embroidered lettering reading "F.A. Cup Winners Wimbledon F.C. 1988", making this one of the most distinctive shirts in the club's history.

Under manager Bobby Gould, Wimbledon followed up their remarkable FA Cup victory by finishing 12th in the First Division with 51 points, comfortably securing another season among England's elite. The campaign demonstrated that the Dons' success was built on far more than one famous afternoon at Wembley, matching the points tally of Manchester United F.C. and establishing themselves as one of the division's toughest opponents. John Fashanu led the attack throughout the season, while Dennis Wise, Vinnie Jones, Lawrie Sanchez, John Scales and Eric Young continued to embody the physical, fearless style that made the "Crazy Gang" famous. Following the departure of FA Cup-winning captain Dave Beasant, goalkeeper Hans Segers arrived to begin a new chapter between the posts.

Although they were unable to replicate their famous Wembley triumph, the 1988–89 season firmly established Wimbledon as a respected First Division club. This commemorative home shirt remains one of the most iconic in the club's history, celebrating the season that proved the "Crazy Gang" belonged among English football's very best.

Washing Instructions

Care Instructions To keep your shirt looking its best for years to come, please follow these guidelines carefully.
🌡️ Temperature
Wash at 30°C maximum. Higher temperatures can damage the fabric, fade colours, and crack printed lettering.
🔄 Cycle
Use a gentle or delicate cycle only. Avoid heavy spin cycles which can distort the shirt shape.
👕 Inside Out
Always turn the shirt inside out before washing to protect the back print, badges, and any embroidery.
🧴 Detergent
Use a mild liquid detergent. Avoid powder detergents, bleach, or fabric softeners as these can degrade print quality.
💨 Drying
Air dry only — lay flat or hang away from direct sunlight. Do not tumble dry as heat will shrink fabric and damage prints.
🔥 Ironing
Do not iron directly over printed areas or badges. If needed, iron on the reverse side only using a low heat setting.
Do not dry clean. Do not wring or twist. Wash separately from items with zips or rough textures that could snag the fabric.
⚠️ Back Print & Badge Care Printed names, numbers, and woven badges are particularly sensitive to heat and abrasion. Always wash inside out, never iron over them directly, and avoid contact with rough surfaces during washing.
