Description
Away shirt worn by Arsenal F.C. during the 1993–94 season, a campaign that followed one of the most successful cup doubles in English football history under manager George Graham. While league consistency proved harder to maintain, Arsenal continued to assert themselves as a disciplined, knockout-focused side, culminating in a memorable European triumph.
The shirt features a bold yellow base with three striking black diagonal stripes across the front, giving it one of the most distinctive away designs of the era. A red neckline and matching cuffs, both detailed with yellow and black striping, add contrast and tie into the club’s traditional colour identity.
The 1993–94 season saw Arsenal finish 4th in the Premier League, maintaining a strong position among England’s elite despite not replicating their domestic cup success from the previous year. The team remained built on organisation and defensive strength, while gradually shifting focus toward European competition.
In the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup, Arsenal produced one of the most disciplined European campaigns in their history. They progressed through multiple tight encounters, conceding just a single goal on their way to the final in Copenhagen. Their run demonstrated the tactical resilience that had become the hallmark of George Graham’s side.
The final against defending champions Parma Calcio 1913 was a defining moment for the club. Despite the absence of key forward Ian Wright through suspension, Arsenal delivered a controlled and mature performance, with a stunning volley from Alan Smith securing a 1–0 victory and their first European trophy in over 20 years.
Throughout the season, the team was anchored by its legendary defensive structure featuring Tony Adams, Steve Bould, Nigel Winterburn, Lee Dixon, and goalkeeper David Seaman. Combined with the attacking influence of Wright and Paul Merson’s creativity, Arsenal remained a formidable force in both domestic and European football.
This away shirt remains closely associated with Arsenal’s transition from domestic dominance to European champions, symbolising one of the most tactically defined eras in the club’s history under George Graham.
