Description

Away shirt worn by Arsenal F.C. in the 2000 UEFA Cup Final under manager Arsène Wenger that ultimately ended in a heartbreaking penalty shootout defeat.

The shirt features a bold yellow base with two strong navy panels running up either side of the body and continuing beneath the sleeves. A yellow and navy neckline and matching cuffs complete the design, giving the kit a distinctive, high-contrast look strongly associated with Arsenal’s late-1990s and early-2000s European identity.

The 1999–2000 UEFA Cup campaign saw Arsenal progress all the way to the final, showcasing a squad built around technical quality, attacking intelligence, and emerging continental influence. Led by the creativity of Dennis Bergkamp, the dynamism of Patrick Vieira, and the pace and finishing of Thierry Henry, Arsenal navigated a challenging European route to reach the showpiece in Copenhagen.

The final, played on 17 May 2000 at Parken Stadium, ended 0–0 after extra time in a tense, tactical battle against Galatasaray S.K.. Despite having chances in open play and extra time, Arsenal were repeatedly denied by a legendary goalkeeping performance from Cláudio Taffarel. A key moment came in extra time when Taffarel produced a brilliant save to deny a close-range header from Thierry Henry.

The match turned into a historic penalty shootout, where Galatasaray prevailed 4–1 after Arsenal missed crucial spot-kicks. Davor Šuker struck the post, while Patrick Vieira hit the crossbar, allowing Gheorghe Popescu to convert the decisive penalty and secure Galatasaray’s first major European trophy.

Despite the disappointment, the campaign reinforced Arsenal’s growing European stature under Wenger, highlighting their ability to compete at the highest level on the continental stage and laying further foundations for future success in the early 2000s.

Washing Instructions

Care Instructions To keep your shirt looking its best for years to come, please follow these guidelines carefully.
🌡️ Temperature
Wash at 30°C maximum. Higher temperatures can damage the fabric, fade colours, and crack printed lettering.
🔄 Cycle
Use a gentle or delicate cycle only. Avoid heavy spin cycles which can distort the shirt shape.
👕 Inside Out
Always turn the shirt inside out before washing to protect the back print, badges, and any embroidery.
🧴 Detergent
Use a mild liquid detergent. Avoid powder detergents, bleach, or fabric softeners as these can degrade print quality.
💨 Drying
Air dry only — lay flat or hang away from direct sunlight. Do not tumble dry as heat will shrink fabric and damage prints.
🔥 Ironing
Do not iron directly over printed areas or badges. If needed, iron on the reverse side only using a low heat setting.
Do not dry clean. Do not wring or twist. Wash separately from items with zips or rough textures that could snag the fabric.
⚠️ Back Print & Badge Care Printed names, numbers, and woven badges are particularly sensitive to heat and abrasion. Always wash inside out, never iron over them directly, and avoid contact with rough surfaces during washing.
