Description
Away shirt worn by Arsenal F.C. during the 2004–05 season, a memorable campaign that saw the Gunners follow up their historic Invincibles year by lifting the FA Cup and finishing as Premier League runners-up.
The shirt features a striking blue base with yellow detailing throughout, complemented by a red neckline and matching red cuffs. Yellow trim on the sleeve ends adds the finishing touch to a bold and distinctive away design that stood out during Arsenal’s final years at Highbury.
Following their unbeaten title-winning campaign of 2003–04, Arsène Wenger’s side entered the season determined to retain the Premier League crown. Arsenal extended their remarkable unbeaten league run to 49 matches, setting a record in English top-flight football that still stands today. The streak eventually came to an end at Old Trafford in October 2004, but the team remained one of the most entertaining and prolific sides in Europe.
Arsenal finished second in the Premier League with 83 points and scored a league-high 87 goals. Once again, Thierry Henry was the driving force behind the attack, scoring 30 goals in all competitions and collecting another Premier League Golden Boot. He was supported by an exceptional supporting cast that included Robert Pires, Freddie Ljungberg and José Antonio Reyes, who helped Arsenal score 117 goals across all competitions.
The season's crowning achievement came in the FA Cup. After navigating a difficult route to the final, Arsenal faced rivals Manchester United F.C. at the Millennium Stadium. Despite being under pressure for much of the match, the Gunners held firm before winning 5–4 on penalties following a goalless draw, securing Wenger's fourth FA Cup triumph as manager.
This period also showcased the blend of Arsenal's established stars and emerging talents. Captain Patrick Vieira remained the heartbeat of the midfield, while young players such as Cesc Fàbregas continued to develop into future club icons.
Remembered as the season immediately following the Invincibles and one of the final chapters of Arsenal's Highbury era, this away shirt represents a side that remained among the elite of English football, combining attacking brilliance with cup-winning pedigree.
