Description
Home shirt worn by Blackburn Rovers F.C. during the 1994 to 1996 period.
The shirt features a bold half blue, half white split across the body, creating one of the most distinctive designs of the mid-1990s Premier League era. The sleeves alternate between blue and white, continuing the asymmetric theme across the kit, while a solid blue collar completes the look with a traditional finish. The design perfectly captures Blackburn’s confident and ambitious identity during their most successful modern period.
The 1994–95 season marked the pinnacle of Blackburn Rovers’ history under manager Kenny Dalglish, as the club, backed by the financial investment of Jack Walker, claimed the Premier League title. Built around the legendary strike partnership of Alan Shearer and Chris Sutton, known as the “SAS”, Blackburn led the table for much of the campaign.
Despite a final-day 2–1 defeat to Liverpool F.C. at Anfield, Blackburn secured the title by a single point after Manchester United F.C. failed to win their final match against West Ham United. Shearer finished the season with 34 league goals (37 in all competitions) and was named Premier League Player of the Season, while Dalglish was awarded Manager of the Season. Blackburn finished top of the table with 89 points, completing one of the most famous title wins in English football history.
The 1995–96 season proved far more difficult as Dalglish stepped aside to become Director of Football and assistant Ray Harford took charge. Blackburn struggled early in the campaign, spending much of the first half near the relegation zone before recovering to finish 7th with 61 points.
Their debut UEFA Champions League campaign was disappointing, as they finished bottom of their group behind Spartak Moscow, Legia Warsaw, and Rosenborg BK. Despite this, Shearer remained prolific, scoring 31 league goals and 37 in all competitions before his record-breaking transfer to Newcastle United F.C. in July 1996 for a world-record fee.
This shirt is remembered as a symbol of Blackburn’s extraordinary rise to champions and the rapid decline that followed, representing one of the most dramatic two-year cycles in Premier League history.
