In the Clausura 1993, results were more inconsistent as Vélez Sársfield claimed the championship, but Boca remained competitive across the season. Internationally, the club also lifted the 1993 Copa de Oro (Nicolás Leoz), defeating Cruzeiro in the semi-finals and Atlético Mineiro in the final to secure silverware on the continental stage.
