Description

Away shirt worn by China during their 1998–1999 international period.

The shirt takes a white base and flips the home design's colourway, with a red V neck collar and red trim running across the shoulders and down each sleeve. Red side panels split by a white stripe run down each flank, echoing the racing stripe effect of the home shirt, while matching red detailing on the sleeve ends ties the two kits together as a clear matching pair. The white and red combination gave China a clean, contrasting alternative for away fixtures during this spell.

Like the home shirt from the same period, this kit was worn during a strong spell for Chinese football under English coach Bobby Houghton. It covered the 1998 Asian Games in Bangkok, where China claimed a bronze medal, and the 1998 East Asian Football Championship, where the side finished runners-up and famously beat rivals Japan 2-0, a result they would not repeat for many years. This form helped drive China's FIFA ranking to an all time high of 37th in December 1998, still the best ranking in the nation's history.

Always turn the shirt inside out before washing to protect the back print, badges, and any embroidery.

🧴 Detergent

Use a mild liquid detergent. Avoid powder detergents, bleach, or fabric softeners as these can degrade print quality.

💨 Drying

Air dry only — lay flat or hang away from direct sunlight. Do not tumble dry as heat will shrink fabric and damage prints.

🔥 Ironing

Do not iron directly over printed areas or badges. If needed, iron on the reverse side only using a low heat setting.

Do not dry clean. Do not wring or twist. Wash separately from items with zips or rough textures that could snag the fabric.

⚠️ Back Print & Badge Care Printed names, numbers, and woven badges are particularly sensitive to heat and abrasion. Always wash inside out, never iron over them directly, and avoid contact with rough surfaces during washing.

1. Can I return or exchange my retro shirt?

We operate a strict no-returns and no-exchanges policy. We do not accept returns for any reason, including change of mind, wrong size, or personal preference. Items with player printing or any customisation cannot be returned or refunded under any circumstances (unless they arrive damaged, see question 2). All sales are final.

2. What happens if my shirt arrives damaged?

Please inspect your order immediately and contact us right away at [email protected] with your order number and clear photos of the damage.
If we confirm the issue, we will send you a free replacement shirt (shipping included) at no extra cost, and you can keep the original damaged item.

3. How long will my order take to arrive?

Orders are prepared and dispatched within 3–4 business days.
UK delivery after dispatch: typically 5–7 business days.
International delivery after dispatch: typically 10–14 business days.

You will receive a shipping confirmation with full tracking as soon as your order leaves our warehouse. All shipping is completely free worldwide.

Monitor your tracking regularly. If you believe delivery has failed, first contact the courier yourself (using the tracking link we sent you) to reschedule delivery or arrange collection.
Then email us at [email protected]. We will investigate and confirm whether the package is lost (this usually takes 1–2 weeks after the scheduled delivery date). If confirmed lost, we will send you a free replacement (shipping included) at no extra cost.
