Flamengo 1995 Centenary Home Shirt

As a centenary kit, it was designed to feel celebratory and distinctive, marking 100 years of Flamengo’s history.

The 1995 season was one of immense expectation for Clube de Regatas do Flamengo, as the club celebrated its centenary year with one of the most ambitious squads in its history. To mark the occasion, Flamengo built a high-profile attacking trio that included the arrival of FIFA World Player of the Year Romário from Barcelona, forming part of what became known as the “Attack of Dreams” (Ataque dos Sonhos).

Despite the star power, the season ultimately ended in disappointment, with Flamengo failing to win a major trophy. In the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A, the club finished 15th, narrowly avoiding a relegation battle in an inconsistent league campaign. In the Campeonato Carioca, Flamengo reached the final stage but lost the title in a dramatic 3–2 decider against Fluminense. The team also reached the final of the Supercopa Libertadores, where they were defeated 2–1 on aggregate by Independiente.

In cup competition, Flamengo produced moments of dominance, including an 8–0 victory over Kaburé-TO in the Copa do Brasil, but were unable to convert strong individual results into silverware.

The “Attack of Dreams” featured Romário alongside Sávio and Edmundo, a trio packed with talent but often criticised for lacking tactical balance and consistency. Despite flashes of brilliance, on-pitch and off-pitch friction prevented the attack from reaching its full potential.

The centenary shirt itself is remembered as a highly sought-after vintage design, representing both Flamengo’s 100-year milestone and a season defined by ambition, star power, and unfulfilled expectations.
