Description

Third shirt worn by Fluminense during the 2009–2010 seasons.

The shirt features a deep maroon base, brought to life by a bold central green vertical stripe running down the middle of the shirt. Flanking this main stripe are two thin white pinstripes, adding balance and sharp contrast to the design while reinforcing Fluminense’s traditional tricolour identity in a more modern, stylised layout. White detailing down the sleeves completes the look, giving the shirt a clean finish while maintaining its strong visual impact.

The 2009 and 2010 seasons for Fluminense are remembered as one of the most dramatic turnarounds in football history, shifting from a near-certain relegation battle to national champions in just a year. In 2009, the club endured a desperate Brasileirão campaign, spending much of the season at the bottom of the table. Under manager Cuca, Fluminense produced an extraordinary late unbeaten run, securing survival on the final day with a 1–1 draw against Coritiba.

Despite their domestic struggles, the team reached the Copa Sudamericana final, narrowly losing 5–4 on aggregate to LDU Quito after a dramatic second-leg performance at the Maracanã. Key figures in the survival push included Fred, who returned from injury to lead the attack, and Darío Conca, whose creativity became essential to the team’s resurgence.

In 2010, Fluminense completed one of the greatest redemption stories in Brazilian football by winning the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A. Under Muricy Ramalho, the team led much of the season and clinched the title on the final day with a 1–0 victory over Guarani. Conca played every match and was named the league’s best player, while Fred captained the side as the main attacking force, and Emerson Sheik scored the decisive championship-winning goal.

This shirt is remembered as a modern interpretation of Fluminense’s colours, symbolising a period defined by resilience, redemption, and one of the most remarkable back-to-back narratives in Brazilian football history.

Washing Instructions

Care Instructions To keep your shirt looking its best for years to come, please follow these guidelines carefully.
🌡️ Temperature
Wash at 30°C maximum. Higher temperatures can damage the fabric, fade colours, and crack printed lettering.
🔄 Cycle
Use a gentle or delicate cycle only. Avoid heavy spin cycles which can distort the shirt shape.
👕 Inside Out
Always turn the shirt inside out before washing to protect the back print, badges, and any embroidery.
🧴 Detergent
Use a mild liquid detergent. Avoid powder detergents, bleach, or fabric softeners as these can degrade print quality.
💨 Drying
Air dry only — lay flat or hang away from direct sunlight. Do not tumble dry as heat will shrink fabric and damage prints.
🔥 Ironing
Do not iron directly over printed areas or badges. If needed, iron on the reverse side only using a low heat setting.
Do not dry clean. Do not wring or twist. Wash separately from items with zips or rough textures that could snag the fabric.
⚠️ Back Print & Badge Care Printed names, numbers, and woven badges are particularly sensitive to heat and abrasion. Always wash inside out, never iron over them directly, and avoid contact with rough surfaces during washing.
