Description
Away shirt worn by Leeds United F.C. during the 1993–94 and 1994–95 seasons, a period in which the club firmly re-established itself as a competitive Premier League side under manager Howard Wilkinson. Following the disappointment of the previous campaign, Leeds achieved consecutive 5th-place finishes and returned to the hunt for European football.
The shirt features striking yellow and blue vertical stripes throughout, paired with a smart blue collar that gives the design a bold and distinctive look. Instantly recognisable among Premier League kits of the mid-1990s, it remains one of the most memorable away shirts worn during Wilkinson's tenure at Elland Road.
The 1993–94 season marked a significant recovery for Leeds United. After narrowly avoiding relegation the year before, the club responded impressively with a 14-match unbeaten run that propelled them up the table. Striker Rod Wallacefinished as the club's leading scorer with 17 goals in all competitions, while experienced midfielders Gary McAllister and Gary Speed remained the driving force behind the team's resurgence. Defensively, Chris Fairclough continued to provide leadership and stability at the back.
Leeds built upon that progress during the 1994–95 campaign, once again finishing 5th and securing qualification for the 1995–96 UEFA Cup. The season is best remembered for the arrival of Ghanaian striker Tony Yeboah, whose spectacular goals quickly made him a fan favourite. Scoring 13 goals in all competitions after arriving from Eintracht Frankfurt midway through the season, Yeboah announced himself with a series of unforgettable strikes that remain among the most iconic goals in Premier League history.
The season also saw the introduction of future club legends Lucas Radebe and Phil Masinga, whose arrivals added further quality and depth to the squad. Alongside established stars such as Gary McAllister, Gary Speed, Rod Wallace and David Batty, Leeds developed into one of the strongest sides outside the Premier League's elite clubs.
Although domestic cup campaigns proved disappointing, including a shock League Cup defeat to Mansfield Town and an FA Cup exit against Manchester United F.C., the club's league performances demonstrated clear progress and restored optimism around Elland Road.
Worn during two consecutive top-five finishes, this away shirt represents an important period of recovery and growth for Leeds United. Associated with players such as Rod Wallace, Gary McAllister, Gary Speed, David Batty, Tony Yeboah and Lucas Radebe, it remains a classic reminder of the club's return to prominence in the mid-1990s.
