The defining moment of the season came on 25 May 1977, when Liverpool faced Borussia Mönchengladbach in the European Cup Final at Rome's Stadio Olimpico. Managed by the legendary Bob Paisley, Liverpool entered the match as champions of England and produced a composed performance to secure a famous 3–1 victory.

Liverpool took the lead in the 28th minute when Terry McDermott finished confidently after an assist from Steve Heighway. The German champions responded early in the second half through Allan Simonsen, whose strike levelled the contest at 1–1. Liverpool regained control in the 65th minute when veteran defender Tommy Smith powered home a towering header from another Heighway delivery. The victory was secured seven minutes from time when Kevin Keegan, playing his final match for Liverpool before his move to Germany, won a penalty after being fouled by Berti Vogts. Full-back Phil Neal converted from the spot to make it 3–1.

The triumph crowned a remarkable season in which Liverpool also won the First Division title. The squad featured some of the greatest names in club history, including captain Emlyn Hughes, goalkeeper Ray Clemence, defender Phil Thompson, midfielder Jimmy Case, and forward Ray Kennedy.

This shirt remains one of the most significant in Liverpool’s history, forever associated with the night the Reds conquered Europe for the first time and began a legacy that would grow into one of the most successful European stories in football.

Use a gentle or delicate cycle only. Avoid heavy spin cycles which can distort the shirt shape.

👕 Inside Out

Always turn the shirt inside out before washing to protect the back print, badges, and any embroidery.

🧴 Detergent

Use a mild liquid detergent. Avoid powder detergents, bleach, or fabric softeners as these can degrade print quality.

💨 Drying

Air dry only — lay flat or hang away from direct sunlight. Do not tumble dry as heat will shrink fabric and damage prints.

🔥 Ironing

Do not iron directly over printed areas or badges. If needed, iron on the reverse side only using a low heat setting.

Do not dry clean. Do not wring or twist. Wash separately from items with zips or rough textures that could snag the fabric.

⚠️ Back Print & Badge Care Printed names, numbers, and woven badges are particularly sensitive to heat and abrasion. Always wash inside out, never iron over them directly, and avoid contact with rough surfaces during washing.
