Description
Away shirt worn by Liverpool F.C. during the 1993–94 and 1994–95 seasons, a pivotal period that saw the club transition from the end of the Graeme Souness era to the beginning of an exciting new chapter under Roy Evans.
The shirt features a striking white base complemented by bold green sleeves, creating one of Liverpool’s most distinctive away designs of the decade. Three diagonal black stripes on either side of the front add a dynamic visual element, while the black neckline is finished with green and white detailing. White cuffs featuring matching black and green stripes complete the unique look, making this one of the most recognisable away shirts of the 1990s.
The 1993–94 season proved to be a difficult campaign for Liverpool, resulting in an 8th-place finish in the Premier League—the club’s lowest league position since 1963. Midway through the season, manager Graeme Souness resigned following a shock FA Cup defeat to lower-league opposition, with long-serving boot room member Roy Evans taking charge. Despite the disappointing league campaign, supporters witnessed the emergence of a future Anfield legend as teenage striker Robbie Fowler burst onto the scene, scoring 18 goals in all competitions during his breakthrough season.
The following year brought renewed optimism. In Roy Evans’ first full season as manager, Liverpool returned to the top four with a 4th-place Premier League finish and captured their first major trophy in three years. The highlight came at Wembley, where Liverpool defeated Bolton Wanderers F.C. 2–1 in the League Cup Final, with Steve McManamanscoring both goals in a man-of-the-match performance.
Evans also strengthened the squad by bringing in defenders John Scales and Phil Babb, helping improve a defence that had struggled in previous seasons. Meanwhile, Fowler developed into one of the most prolific young forwards in Europe, scoring 31 goals in all competitions and producing memorable moments such as his famous four-minute-and-thirty-three-second hat-trick against Arsenal F.C..
Alongside Fowler and McManaman, experienced figures such as Ian Rush, John Barnes and Mark Wright played important roles as Liverpool re-established themselves among the Premier League’s leading clubs.
This away shirt remains closely associated with a transformative period in Liverpool’s history, representing the emergence of a new generation of stars, the return of major silverware, and the foundations of the exciting Roy Evans side that would captivate supporters throughout the mid-1990s.
