Description

Goalkeeper shirt worn by Liverpool F.C. during the 1995–96 season, an era defined by exhilarating attacking football under manager Roy Evans and the emergence of one of the most entertaining squads of the Premier League era.

The shirt features a bold green and purple base with a distinctive triangular and dashed geometric pattern running throughout, layered with sharp white and black streaking that gives it a classic mid-90s goalkeeper aesthetic. The design is completed with black shoulders and undersleeves, alongside a black neckline and matching cuffs, creating a strong, imposing visual suited to a No.1 goalkeeper kit.

Liverpool’s goalkeeping department for the season reflected both experience and youth depth. David James was the undisputed first-choice goalkeeper, supported by veteran backup Stephen Pears, promising Danish goalkeeper Michael Stensgaard, and academy graduate Tony Warner.

On the pitch, Liverpool produced one of their most memorable modern campaigns, finishing 3rd in the Premier League behind Manchester United F.C. and Newcastle United F.C.. The season became synonymous with thrilling, high-scoring football and the rise of the famous “Spice Boys” generation.

A defining highlight came on 3 April 1996, when Liverpool defeated Newcastle United 4–3 at Anfield in a match widely regarded as one of the greatest in Premier League history. Despite their league success and attacking brilliance, the season ended in heartbreak with a 1–0 defeat to Manchester United in the FA Cup Final at Wembley, decided by a late goal from Eric Cantona.

The attacking trio of Robbie Fowler, Stan Collymore, and Steve McManaman lit up the season, combining for one of the most feared forward units in Europe.

This goalkeeper shirt remains closely associated with one of Liverpool’s most iconic near-miss seasons, an unforgettable blend of style, goals, drama, and the fine margins that defined mid-90s English football.

Washing Instructions

Care Instructions To keep your shirt looking its best for years to come, please follow these guidelines carefully.
🌡️ Temperature
Wash at 30°C maximum. Higher temperatures can damage the fabric, fade colours, and crack printed lettering.
🔄 Cycle
Use a gentle or delicate cycle only. Avoid heavy spin cycles which can distort the shirt shape.
👕 Inside Out
Always turn the shirt inside out before washing to protect the back print, badges, and any embroidery.
🧴 Detergent
Use a mild liquid detergent. Avoid powder detergents, bleach, or fabric softeners as these can degrade print quality.
💨 Drying
Air dry only — lay flat or hang away from direct sunlight. Do not tumble dry as heat will shrink fabric and damage prints.
🔥 Ironing
Do not iron directly over printed areas or badges. If needed, iron on the reverse side only using a low heat setting.
Do not dry clean. Do not wring or twist. Wash separately from items with zips or rough textures that could snag the fabric.
⚠️ Back Print & Badge Care Printed names, numbers, and woven badges are particularly sensitive to heat and abrasion. Always wash inside out, never iron over them directly, and avoid contact with rough surfaces during washing.
