The breakthrough came in the 23rd minute when John Arne Riise opened the scoring on his former home ground. Just before half-time, Emile Heskey doubled Liverpool’s advantage, before Michael Owen struck only seconds into the second half to make it 3–0.

Bayern fought back through goals from Hasan Salihamidžić and Carsten Jancker, but Liverpool held firm to secure the trophy. Owen’s influential display earned him the Man of the Match award, highlighting the form that would later see him crowned European Footballer of the Year in 2001.

Featuring key players such as Michael Owen, Emile Heskey, Steven Gerrard, Sami Hyypiä and Jerzy Dudek, Liverpool demonstrated the strength and resilience that defined the Houllier era.

Do not dry clean. Do not wring or twist. Wash separately from items with zips or rough textures that could snag the fabric.
