Description

Away shirt worn by Liverpool F.C. during the 2008–09 season, one of the club’s most impressive Premier League campaigns under manager Rafael Benítez.

The shirt features an entirely grey base, giving it a sleek and modern appearance. Gold and red detailing runs down the front of the shirt, adding a bold contrast to the neutral body, while additional gold accents along the sleeves complete the premium look. The combination of colours gave the kit a distinctive identity, fitting for a side competing at the very top of English and European football.

The 2008–09 season is widely regarded as one of Liverpool’s strongest Premier League campaigns. The Reds finished 2nd in the table with 86 points, narrowly missing out on the title to Manchester United F.C. by just four points. Despite this, Liverpool were the league’s most prolific attacking side, scoring 77 goals and losing only two matches all season.

One of the defining moments of the campaign came at Old Trafford, where Liverpool produced a famous 4–1 victory over Manchester United, completing a league double over their fiercest rivals. In Europe, they reached the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals, where they were eliminated by Chelsea F.C. after a dramatic tie that included a thrilling 4–4 draw at Stamford Bridge.

The team was built around a world-class core. Captain Steven Gerrard delivered one of his finest seasons, scoring 24 goals in all competitions. Alongside him, Fernando Torres contributed 17 goals, with Dirk Kuyt and Yossi Benayoun also playing key attacking roles.

Behind them, the spine of the side was exceptional. Xabi Alonso and Javier Mascherano controlled midfield, while Jamie Carragher and Daniel Agger anchored a resilient defence, with Pepe Reina providing consistency in goal.

Although the season ended without silverware, the 2008–09 Liverpool side remains one of the most respected in the club’s modern history, and this grey-and-gold away shirt is closely associated with a team that pushed the eventual champions all the way and produced some of the most dominant football of the Premier League era.

Washing Instructions

Care Instructions To keep your shirt looking its best for years to come, please follow these guidelines carefully.
🌡️ Temperature
Wash at 30°C maximum. Higher temperatures can damage the fabric, fade colours, and crack printed lettering.
🔄 Cycle
Use a gentle or delicate cycle only. Avoid heavy spin cycles which can distort the shirt shape.
👕 Inside Out
Always turn the shirt inside out before washing to protect the back print, badges, and any embroidery.
🧴 Detergent
Use a mild liquid detergent. Avoid powder detergents, bleach, or fabric softeners as these can degrade print quality.
💨 Drying
Air dry only — lay flat or hang away from direct sunlight. Do not tumble dry as heat will shrink fabric and damage prints.
🔥 Ironing
Do not iron directly over printed areas or badges. If needed, iron on the reverse side only using a low heat setting.
Do not dry clean. Do not wring or twist. Wash separately from items with zips or rough textures that could snag the fabric.
⚠️ Back Print & Badge Care Printed names, numbers, and woven badges are particularly sensitive to heat and abrasion. Always wash inside out, never iron over them directly, and avoid contact with rough surfaces during washing.
