Description
Home shirt worn by Manchester City F.C. during the 2011–12 season, the club’s 110th season of competitive football and a campaign that remains the most iconic in their modern history. Under manager Roberto Mancini, City secured their first-ever Premier League title—and their first top-flight championship since 1968—by overtaking rivals Manchester United F.C. in one of the most dramatic title finishes ever witnessed.
The design is built on a classic light blue base, representing the club’s traditional identity during a season that defined a new era of success. It features clean white trim running down both sides of the shirt, giving it a sharp and streamlined silhouette. The shirt is completed with a white neckline and a distinctive blue-and-white chequered collar, a detail that makes it instantly recognisable as part of this historic title-winning season.
The 2011–12 Premier League campaign is remembered for its extraordinary intensity and unprecedented finale. City began the season in dominant form, highlighted by a famous 6–1 victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford. However, a dip in results during March and April saw them surrender a significant lead, allowing the title race to swing back in United’s favour heading into the final weeks.
Everything came down to the final day against Queens Park Rangers F.C. at the Etihad Stadium. Needing a win to secure the title, City trailed 2–1 entering stoppage time, before producing one of the most astonishing comebacks in football history. Edin Džeko equalised in the 91st minute, before Sergio Agüero scored the legendary 93:20 winner to seal the Premier League title on goal difference, finishing level on 89 points with United but ahead due to superior goal difference (+64 to +56). It remains the only Premier League season decided in this manner.
In other competitions, City experienced mixed fortunes. They exited the UEFA Champions League at the group stage behind Bayern Munich and Napoli, dropped into the Europa League where they were eliminated by Sporting CP, and were knocked out of the FA Cup by Manchester United in the third round. Their League Cup run ended in the semi-finals against Liverpool.
The squad was led by standout performers throughout the campaign. Sergio Agüero finished as top scorer with 30 goals in all competitions, including 23 in the league, while Joe Hart played every league match, anchoring a defence that was unbeaten at home with 18 wins and just one draw at the Etihad Stadium. Key contributions also came from Yaya Touré, whose decisive goals proved vital in key moments, and David Silva, whose creativity helped unlock tight matches throughout the season.
The 2011–12 campaign remains the defining chapter in Manchester City’s modern history, and the home shirt worn during that unforgettable season stands as a symbol of the “93:20” miracle and the club’s rise to the pinnacle of English football.
