Description

Away shirt worn by Manchester United F.C. during the 1990–92 seasons, most famously in the club’s historic 1992 League Cup Final victory. Featuring the iconic blue and white geometric “snowflake” pattern, this shirt remains one of the most distinctive and celebrated designs in Manchester United’s history.

The shirt boasts a striking blue and white patterned base, complemented by a white neckline and cuffs detailed with red and blue stripes. Red, white and blue trim runs down the sleeves, creating a bold and unmistakable look that perfectly captures the spirit of early-1990s football.

The 1991–92 campaign proved to be a landmark season for manager Sir Alex Ferguson and his emerging Manchester United side. On 12 April 1992, United lifted their first-ever League Cup by defeating Nottingham Forest F.C. 1–0 at Wembley Stadium in front of more than 76,000 spectators. The decisive moment arrived in the 14th minute when Brian McClair converted after being set up by an 18-year-old Ryan Giggs. McClair’s goal not only secured the trophy but also marked his 100th goal for the club.

The victory is widely regarded as one of the key milestones of Ferguson’s reign, providing tangible proof that his rebuilding project was beginning to bear fruit. The side combined experienced leaders with exciting young talent, including goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel, defenders Steve Bruce and Gary Pallister, midfield dynamo Paul Ince, and the rapidly emerging Giggs. Up front, McClair and Mark Hughes formed a formidable partnership that helped drive United’s success.

Manchester United also finished runners-up in the First Division during the final season before the formation of the Premier League, signalling that the club was on the verge of returning to the summit of English football. Interestingly, the defeated Nottingham Forest side featured future United stars Roy Keane and Teddy Sheringham, both of whom would later play major roles in the club’s greatest successes.

Forever linked to Manchester United’s first League Cup triumph and the early rise of Ferguson’s dynasty, the famous snowflake shirt represents the beginning of an era that would transform the club into one of the dominant forces in world football.

Washing Instructions

Care Instructions To keep your shirt looking its best for years to come, please follow these guidelines carefully.
🌡️ Temperature
Wash at 30°C maximum. Higher temperatures can damage the fabric, fade colours, and crack printed lettering.
🔄 Cycle
Use a gentle or delicate cycle only. Avoid heavy spin cycles which can distort the shirt shape.
👕 Inside Out
Always turn the shirt inside out before washing to protect the back print, badges, and any embroidery.
🧴 Detergent
Use a mild liquid detergent. Avoid powder detergents, bleach, or fabric softeners as these can degrade print quality.
💨 Drying
Air dry only — lay flat or hang away from direct sunlight. Do not tumble dry as heat will shrink fabric and damage prints.
🔥 Ironing
Do not iron directly over printed areas or badges. If needed, iron on the reverse side only using a low heat setting.
Do not dry clean. Do not wring or twist. Wash separately from items with zips or rough textures that could snag the fabric.
⚠️ Back Print & Badge Care Printed names, numbers, and woven badges are particularly sensitive to heat and abrasion. Always wash inside out, never iron over them directly, and avoid contact with rough surfaces during washing.
