Description
Away shirt worn by Manchester United F.C. during the 2000/01 season, a campaign in which Sir Alex Ferguson’s side secured a historic third consecutive Premier League title and firmly established themselves as the dominant force in English football. The design reflected a stripped-back, modern aesthetic that matched the team’s controlled authority on the pitch.
The shirt is built on a clean white base, kept deliberately minimal and sharp, with all detailing executed in deep navy blue. Bold navy shoulder panels run across the upper sleeves, dropping halfway down the arms to create a strong, structured silhouette. A matching navy round-neck collar completes the upper design, giving the shirt a solid and composed finish. The club crest is embroidered on the left chest in a monochrome navy treatment, reinforcing the shirt’s understated, unified colour palette and clean visual identity.
The 2000/01 season itself was one of total domestic control. United secured the Premier League title in mid-April with five games still remaining, finishing ten points clear of nearest rivals Arsenal F.C.. One of the defining moments of the campaign came in a devastating 6–1 victory over Arsenal at Old Trafford, where Dwight Yorke famously scored a first-half hat-trick in a statement performance that encapsulated United’s superiority.
The squad combined experience and elite talent across all areas. Teddy Sheringham enjoyed a remarkable late-career peak, finishing as the club’s top scorer with 21 goals in all competitions and earning both the PFA Players’ Player of the Year and FWA Footballer of the Year awards. He was supported by the attacking depth of Andy Cole and Ole Gunnar Solskjær, while David Beckham provided creativity from wide areas with 12 assists across the season.
Behind them, captain Roy Keane continued to drive the team with relentless leadership in midfield, and the signing of World Cup-winning goalkeeper Fabien Barthez added further stability, helping United keep 17 league clean sheets. Despite early exits in both domestic cups and a quarter-final Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich, the season remains remembered for United’s ruthless consistency and their achievement of a domestic three-peat.
This away shirt therefore represents a campaign of control, confidence, and sustained dominance, mirroring a team at the height of its powers under Ferguson’s management.
