Description
Third shirt worn by Manchester United F.C. during the 2000/01 season, a campaign in which Sir Alex Ferguson’s side secured a historic third consecutive Premier League title and further cemented their dominance of English football. The alternative strip offered a more aggressive, modern visual identity compared to the club’s traditional home and away designs.
The shirt is built on a deep navy blue base across both the torso and sleeves, giving it a strong, imposing look. Large bold red panels run down either side of the body, tightly framed with thin white piping that sharply defines the shirt’s structure and enhances its athletic silhouette. The design is completed with a sporty crew-neck collar, finished with subtle red and white trim that is echoed again on the sleeve cuffs, tying the entire colour scheme together with a clean, balanced finish.
On the chest, the classic club crest is embroidered on the left side, standing out against the dark base, while the manufacturer logo appears in white on the opposite side. Dominating the front of the shirt is the iconic Vodafone sponsor, presented in a bold white block that contrasts heavily with the navy background and reinforces the shirt’s unmistakable late-90s/early-2000s identity.
The 2000/01 season itself was one of complete domestic control. United secured the Premier League title in mid-April with five matches still remaining, finishing ten points clear of closest challengers Arsenal F.C.. A defining moment of the campaign came in a devastating 6–1 victory over Arsenal at Old Trafford, where Dwight Yorke hit a first-half hat-trick in one of the season’s most iconic performances.
The squad blended experience and world-class talent throughout. Teddy Sheringham enjoyed a remarkable late-career peak, finishing as the club’s top scorer with 21 goals in all competitions and earning both the PFA Players’ Player of the Year and FWA Footballer of the Year awards. He was supported by the attacking quality of Andy Cole and Ole Gunnar Solskjær, while David Beckham provided creativity from wide areas with 12 assists.
At the base of the team, captain Roy Keane drove the midfield with trademark intensity, and new goalkeeper Fabien Barthez added authority between the posts, contributing to 17 league clean sheets. Although European and domestic cup exits came earlier than expected, the season remains defined by United’s relentless consistency and their achievement of a historic domestic three-peat.
