Description
Home shirt worn by Manchester United F.C. during the 2006–07 season, a landmark campaign under Sir Alex Ferguson in which the club ended Chelsea’s domestic dominance and reclaimed the Premier League title with a high-tempo, attacking style built around the explosive partnership of Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney, both of whom finished the season as joint top scorers across all competitions.
The shirt is constructed from a solid deep red base with a deliberately clean, uninterrupted finish, designed to emphasise a classic and powerful club identity. It was also conceptually tied to the 50th anniversary of the Busby Babes’ legacy, which is reflected in its more traditional, structured visual language and ceremonial detailing rather than modern pattern-heavy styling.
A standout feature is the retro-inspired crest presentation, where the Manchester United badge is enclosed within a large white shield outlined in gold. This centralised chest design gives the shirt a bold, heritage-focused focal point and reinforces the commemorative theme behind the kit’s aesthetic direction.
Across the torso, a strong structural “V” seam defines the front of the shirt, shaping the chest panel into a sharp geometric form that nods to classic football tailoring while still maintaining a modern engineered silhouette. This gives the shirt a sense of symmetry and authority when viewed head-on.
The neckline is finished with a flat white V-neck collar, paired with thick matching white sleeve cuffs that frame the arms cleanly and balance the bold red body. Gold piping runs subtly along the shoulders and side seams, adding a refined accent that highlights the structure of the kit without overpowering its simplicity.
On the pitch, this shirt is associated with one of Manchester United’s most successful modern seasons. The club finished Premier League champions with 89 points, scoring 83 league goals and 123 in all competitions. They reached the FA Cup final, losing narrowly to Chelsea after extra time in the first final at the rebuilt Wembley Stadium, and also advanced to the Champions League semi-finals after a famous 7–1 victory over Roma before being eliminated by AC Milan. Despite missing out on a treble, the season marked the return of United as England’s dominant force.
