The 2007 and 2008 seasons saw São Paulo dominate Brazilian football under the management of Muricy Ramalho, completing a historic run of three consecutive Campeonato Brasileiro Série A titles after also winning the league in 2006. The team became renowned for its tactical discipline, defensive organisation, and remarkable consistency over two extraordinary campaigns.

In 2007, São Paulo secured their fifth Brazilian championship in commanding fashion, finishing 15 points clear of second-placed Santos. The team produced one of the greatest defensive campaigns in league history, conceding only 19 goals across 38 matches. Captain Rogério Ceni was central to the success, recording a shutout streak of more than 900 minutes during the season while also contributing seven league goals from free-kicks and penalties. Strikers Borges and Dagoberto also finished among the club’s leading scorers.

The dominance continued in 2008 as São Paulo secured a historic third consecutive league title, becoming the first club in the modern Brasileirão era to achieve the feat. The championship victory was especially memorable due to the dramatic comeback mounted in the second half of the season, overturning an 11-point deficit behind Grêmio. São Paulo clinched the title on the final day with a 1–0 victory over Goiás, with Borges scoring the decisive goal.

Alongside their domestic dominance, São Paulo remained highly competitive in continental competition, reaching the quarter-finals of the Copa Libertadores in 2008 before being eliminated by Fluminense. The squad combined experienced leadership with efficient attacking play and a defence widely regarded as the best in Brazil during this era.
