Description

Away shirt worn by Sport Club Corinthians Paulista during the 2000 FIFA Club World Championship.

The shirt features a bold black base complemented by striking white panels running down either side of the shirt, alongside matching white sections across the top of the sleeves. A white neckline trimmed with a thin black stripe completes the design, giving the shirt a sharp and modern appearance that perfectly reflected early-2000s football styling. The contrast between the dark central body and bright white detailing created one of Corinthians’ most memorable international kits.

The 2000 season marked a historic moment for Corinthians, as the club became the inaugural winners of the FIFA Club World Championship, the tournament that later evolved into the modern FIFA Club World Cup. Qualifying as Brazilian champions, Corinthians entered a competition featuring some of the world’s biggest clubs and emerged as world champions on home soil.

Competing in a difficult Group A in São Paulo, Corinthians finished top on goal difference ahead of Real Madrid after an entertaining 2–2 draw between the two sides. Victories over Raja Casablanca and Al-Nassr secured their place in the final, where they faced fellow Brazilian club Vasco da Gama at the Maracanã on 14 January 2000.

After a tense 0–0 draw following extra time, Corinthians triumphed 4–3 in the penalty shootout to make history as the first-ever world champions of the FIFA era. Dida was the hero in goal, saving a penalty from Gilberto, while Vasco captain Edmundo missed the decisive kick. Penalties from Freddy Rincón, Fernando Baiano, Luizão, and Edu sealed the famous victory.

The squad featured several legendary figures, including Marcelinho Carioca, Ricardinho, Vampeta, and Luizão, forming one of the strongest Corinthians teams ever assembled.

This away shirt is remembered as an iconic piece from one of the greatest achievements in Corinthians’ history, symbolising the club’s triumph on the global stage as the first-ever FIFA Club World champions.
