Description

Home shirt worn by Tottenham Hotspur F.C. during the 1982–83 Centenary season, a campaign in which the club celebrated 100 years of history while competing strongly in the First Division under manager Keith Burkinshaw.

The shirt features a classic white base with a clean white neckline and cuffs, finished with subtle navy stripe detailing. Elegant and traditional in design, it reflects Tottenham’s iconic lilywhite identity, while the understated navy accents give the shirt a refined look befitting a milestone year in the club’s history.

On the pitch, Spurs enjoyed a highly competitive league campaign, finishing 4th in the First Division with 69 points, securing qualification for the following season’s UEFA Cup. While they were unable to replicate the silverware success of their back-to-back FA Cup triumphs in 1981 and 1982, the squad remained one of the most technically gifted and entertaining sides in English football.

The team was built around a core of elite international talent, led by the creative genius of Glenn Hoddle, who controlled games from midfield with his vision and passing ability. Ossie Ardiles returned to the squad during the season, adding further flair and experience, while Steve Archibald and Garth Crooks provided a strong and productive attacking partnership.

Defensively, the emergence of Gary Mabbutt strengthened the squad significantly following his arrival from Bristol Rovers, while experienced goalkeeper Ray Clemence brought leadership and stability between the posts.

Tottenham were particularly strong at White Hart Lane, where they maintained an excellent home record, but inconsistent away form ultimately prevented them from mounting a serious title challenge. In Europe, Spurs competed in the Cup Winners’ Cup, advancing past Coleraine before being eliminated by FC Bayern Munich in the second round.

Overall, the 1982–83 Centenary home shirt is associated with a landmark season in Tottenham Hotspur’s history—celebrating 100 years of the club while showcasing a talented, technically gifted side that remained firmly among England’s elite.

Washing Instructions

Care Instructions To keep your shirt looking its best for years to come, please follow these guidelines carefully.
🌡️ Temperature
Wash at 30°C maximum. Higher temperatures can damage the fabric, fade colours, and crack printed lettering.
🔄 Cycle
Use a gentle or delicate cycle only. Avoid heavy spin cycles which can distort the shirt shape.
👕 Inside Out
Always turn the shirt inside out before washing to protect the back print, badges, and any embroidery.
🧴 Detergent
Use a mild liquid detergent. Avoid powder detergents, bleach, or fabric softeners as these can degrade print quality.
💨 Drying
Air dry only — lay flat or hang away from direct sunlight. Do not tumble dry as heat will shrink fabric and damage prints.
🔥 Ironing
Do not iron directly over printed areas or badges. If needed, iron on the reverse side only using a low heat setting.
Do not dry clean. Do not wring or twist. Wash separately from items with zips or rough textures that could snag the fabric.
⚠️ Back Print & Badge Care Printed names, numbers, and woven badges are particularly sensitive to heat and abrasion. Always wash inside out, never iron over them directly, and avoid contact with rough surfaces during washing.
