Description

Away shirt worn by Wimbledon F.C. during the 1988–89 season, as the club looked to build on their incredible FA Cup triumph and prove they belonged among England's elite. Worn by club legends including John Fashanu, Dennis Wise, Vinnie Jones, Lawrie Sanchez, John Scales and Eric Young, this vibrant away shirt is synonymous with the legendary "Crazy Gang" era.

The design features a bold red base complemented by distinctive green chevron detailing running down the shoulders and sleeves, creating one of the club's most recognisable colour combinations. A classic retro V-neck collar completes the late-1980s aesthetic, while the loose-fitting silhouette reflects the style of the era. To celebrate Wimbledon's unforgettable FA Cup victory, the traditional yellow eagle club crest is surrounded by special embroidered lettering reading "F.A. Cup Winners Wimbledon F.C. 1988", making this a truly unique commemorative design.

Under manager Bobby Gould, Wimbledon followed up their famous Wembley success by finishing 12th in the First Division with 51 points, comfortably securing another season in the top flight. The Dons demonstrated that their FA Cup triumph was no fluke, matching the points tally of Manchester United F.C. while continuing to frustrate English football's biggest clubs with their physical, fearless approach. John Fashanu led the attack, while Dennis Wise, Lawrie Sanchez and Vinnie Jones remained at the heart of Wimbledon's uncompromising identity. At the back, John Scales and Eric Young formed a formidable defensive partnership, and following the departure of FA Cup-winning captain Dave Beasant, Hans Segers established himself as the club's new first-choice goalkeeper.

Although they were unable to repeat their cup heroics, the 1988–89 campaign cemented Wimbledon as an established First Division club. This away shirt remains one of the most iconic kits of the "Crazy Gang" era, celebrating the season that proved one of English football's greatest underdog stories was built to last.

Washing Instructions

Care Instructions To keep your shirt looking its best for years to come, please follow these guidelines carefully.
🌡️ Temperature
Wash at 30°C maximum. Higher temperatures can damage the fabric, fade colours, and crack printed lettering.
🔄 Cycle
Use a gentle or delicate cycle only. Avoid heavy spin cycles which can distort the shirt shape.
👕 Inside Out
Always turn the shirt inside out before washing to protect the back print, badges, and any embroidery.
🧴 Detergent
Use a mild liquid detergent. Avoid powder detergents, bleach, or fabric softeners as these can degrade print quality.
💨 Drying
Air dry only — lay flat or hang away from direct sunlight. Do not tumble dry as heat will shrink fabric and damage prints.
🔥 Ironing
Do not iron directly over printed areas or badges. If needed, iron on the reverse side only using a low heat setting.
Do not dry clean. Do not wring or twist. Wash separately from items with zips or rough textures that could snag the fabric.
⚠️ Back Print & Badge Care Printed names, numbers, and woven badges are particularly sensitive to heat and abrasion. Always wash inside out, never iron over them directly, and avoid contact with rough surfaces during washing.
